Position: Artificial Intelligence / Data Mining Engineer
(US Permanent Residency or Citizenship Required)

Key Role:

Work as part of a team to research, evaluate, and deploy advanced large data analytics for clients in research and production areas. Leverage COTS and GOTS software to scale processes across multiple hardware nodes. Define standardized interfaces to downstream systems for data consumption. Work with large data sets, complex algorithms, and team members from a variety of specialties to solve the client's hardest problems. Support a range of clients, including front-line analysts, researchers, and senior leadership. This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA.


BS or equivalent and 5+ years of experience with software development or engineering as a software engineer, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis or resolution; or MS or equivalent and 2 years of related experience; or PhD in a related field. Specific job requirements include:

• Experience with designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms on large data sets, analytics that employ semantic relationships, including inference engines, between structured and unstructured data sets, analytics that identify latent patterns between elements of massive data sets, and analytics that employ techniques commonly associated with Artificial Intelligence, including genetic algorithms.
• Experience with developing a Jung framework or other framework for performing large scale graph analytics.
• Experience with taxonomy construction for analytic disciplines, knowledge areas, and skills.
• Experience with developing and deploying data driven analytics, event driven analytics, and sets of analytics orchestrated through rules engines.


• Advanced knowledge of data mining – e.g. statistical classification models, clustering, time series data, handling large data sets, Artificial Intelligence, Self Organizing Maps, Fuzzy Logic, Data Mining of text and image data, machine learning, probabilistic modeling and reasoning (Bayesian Networks).
• Programming ability includes: C, C++, Java, Perl, Unix/Linux.
• Candidates should have demonstrated capability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment on multiple projects, switching easily from task to task and learning new concepts as necessary.
• Ability and desire to meet with customers, understand their needs, and generate appropriate, innovative technical solutions.
• This is a research and development position. Candidates must be interested in thinking, problem solving, and learning. They must be able to generate and communicate new ideas and be able to constructively critique the ideas of others.

Additional Skills (Experience with any of these will be considered a strong plus):
• A good understanding of the complexities of service-oriented architectures and the ability to design and analyze a system in that type of environment.
• The drive and desire to use open source software where possible but not afraid of implementing it on your own.
• User interface development.
• Experience, understanding or familiarity with MATLAB.
• Experience writing conference papers, journal articles, white papers, project reports and proposals.
• Ability to relocate to the SF Bay Area (Sunnyvale, CA).
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.
