PROGNOSTICS

Internship opportunities that explore the nature of prognostics, in particular: Estimating on-line confidence of remaining life predictions; Hybrid data-driven/physics based prognostics; System-level prognostics; prognostic ensembles; Application domains include those from space environment (including International Space Station, Europa lander, lunar gateway, etc.) and aeronautics (e.g., On-Demand Mobility). Spend a summer, a semester, or longer at NASA Ames and get immersed in the PCoEs activities while working towards your Ph.D. (if the topic is synchronized). Also available as self-funded visiting researcher position. Both US Citizens and international students are welcome to apply.

RESILIENCE

Internship opportunity that explores the concept of optimally integrating PHM into a system during the conceptual design phase. Here, an analysis needs to be performed that rates the system’s ability to withstand operational disruptions during its entire life cycle. Different design alternatives need to be evaluated with appropriate resilience metrics that quantify the system’s response. PHM needs to be explored as an alternative to component redundancy (direct or functional), multi-functional design solutions, cross-correlations, and others. Spend a summer, a semester, or longer at NASA Ames and get immersed in the PCoEs activities while working towards your Ph.D. (if the topic is synchronized). Also available as self-funded visiting researcher position. Both US Citizens and international students are welcome to apply.
