Position: Electrical Engineer
Description
Ridgetop Group seeks an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the research and development of innovative prognostic solutions for electronic power systems, including switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and electromechanical actuators (EMA), at its headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. This position requires involvement in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including requirements, design, validation, deployment, documentation, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
Manage the design, layout, assembly, and debug of circuit boards
Design automated test procedures to validate and characterize electronic systems and components
Design and conduct laboratory experiments in support of new prognostic methodologies and solutions
Support process improvement activities both within the department and company-wide
Work both independently and in a team environment, with the opportunity to provide technical leadership to other members of the engineering team
Create and/or modify specification documents detailing system design and enhancements to meet marketing requirements
Collaborate with others in the creation of technical reports, whitepapers, and user documentation
Provide on-going client support and maintenance
Requirements
EE degree with at least 2 years of design and/or test engineering experience
Use of simulation environments such as MATLAB and PSPICE
Use of schematic capture/layout tools such as Eagle
Use of version control tools such as Subversion
Use of Microsoft Excel for storing and analyzing data
Familiarity with LabVIEW and National Instruments data acquisition systems
Knowledge of communications protocols, including RS-232, CAN, and TCP/IP
Strong circuit design and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong time management, task prioritization, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to rapidly grasp technical concepts and solutions
High level of personal drive and self-motivation
Commitment to continuous improvement
Embedded systems design and firmware development experience is desirable
Language-based FPGA programming is a plus, particularly with Xilinx IDE and Verilog
Some travel may be required for this position
Due to the nature of the projects we work on, US citizenship or legal permanent US residency status is highly desirable.
JOB TERMS
This is a full-time (40-hours per week) position on-site in Tucson, Arizona.
