Call for Papers

Paper submission is now closed.

The paper template can be downloaded below on this page. Both full length research papers and technical briefs will be reviewed by subject matter experts with the same review rigor. Regular research papers report original research and are judged on the criteria of originality, significance, quality, and clarity. There is no lower page limit or upper page limit. The prime requirement is that such papers must contain a compendious account of the reported research. Technical Briefs are shorter contributions that can be: an announcement of a research result (preliminary to the full account of the research); a scientific or technical discussion of a topic that is timely; a preliminary account of a deployed application (prior to further discussion of deployment results in an archival format); or a provocative article that may stimulate further research. As the name implies, brevity is an essential feature of a technical brief. We recommend 3-4 pages as a guideline. In addition, there is no requirement to make a detailed attempt to place the work within the context of current research; the citations can be relatively few; and it is appropriate to provide only a cursory review of related research. It may become apparent during the paper review that some regular papers are better suited as a technical brief and vice versa. Authors will be notified accordingly and allowed to resubmit their papers in the respective other category. Technical briefs will be presented as posters while research papers will be presented as oral presentations. Exceptional technical briefs and those of special interest may be invited for an oral presentation as well.

The Prognostic and Health Management Society advocates open-access to scientific data, and thus uses a Creative Commons license (creativecommons.org) for its publications. A Creative Commons license does not relinquish the author’s rights to another organization; rather it allows them to share some of their rights with the public under certain conditions while retaining full copyright. The Prognostics and Health Management Society will publish papers under The Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License, which lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work (including commercially), as long as they credit you for the original creation. A use rights note citing the Creative Commons Attribution License will be placed in the footnote on the first page of the article and is contained in the paper template. The conference proceedings will be published on the web for unrestricted access by the global scholarly community (and search engines). In addition, we are working to ensure that papers are listed in standard science citation indexes.
